When meeting someone for the first time, more often then not, after a few minutes of chatting, the person breaks into a smile. With an inquisitive look in their eyes, they then say something like, “Have we met before?”
I undoubtedly chuckle in reply and say, “No, but I hear that all the time!”
The smiling and laughter between us is contagious. It seems we both feel a sense of pure delight in simply relating to each other. As the conversation continues, we get to know each other for real, for the first time…
I genuinely enjoying getting to know people. My sense is that this quality I possess, enabling others to feel relaxed and at ease, so much so that they become convinced we’ve met before, is the most valuable personal quality I can offer you as a professional celebrant and storyteller.

Before I became a celebrant, I enjoyed 2 decade long careers that continue to support my ongoing work helping people tell their stories through ceremony:
--The first was running my own Landscape Design Company, where I learned how to listen and understand and then bring to reality, someone else’s vision, regardless of my own preferences.
--In the second, as a public speaker facilitating stress management workshops, I learned to command and engage an audience’s attention.
As a seasoned public speaker I feel confident that I have mastered the art of thinking on my feet, keeping participants engaged calm and inspired and empowered to feel a sense of happiness and well being. Becoming a professional Celebrant was a natural evolution of my previous careers and is something I see more as purpose with a passion than I do work.
Meanwhile, simultaneous to my professional life, back at home, I've raised 3 daughters, any number of dogs, cats, birds and fish and a perennial garden. I love weeding, though I can’t say why, so I won’t!
None of that would have been possible without the support, friendship and good humor of the love of my life, my husband to whom I’ve been married for 30 years. We fell in love on a ski lift in Vermont, a lovely metaphor for riding along side one and other through life's ups and downs. I am happy to say we have managed to learn from the downs and stay focused on the ups!
Some time, but I can't say exactly when, sometime after I becoming a celebrant, I created a website that would help clients understand the importance of telling their story in an original, personalized ceremony, what a celebrant is and the values and ethics I bring to this work.
I wanted to make it clear that I appreciate the diversity in people's beliefs and honor and reflect client's approach to life. I wanted to make it clear that co-creating ceremonies is one of the highest honors and privileges of my life.
Sharing in the milestones of other people's lives is passion that is my joy, for I love people.
Some timed passed after I made that all clear on every last page of the website. Eventually you (of all people!) were looking for someone to help you tell your story and decided to click the About page...
...which brings us to here and now.
